Chiropractor
Christopher Winans D.C.
Dr. Chris was born in rural New York before moving to Hickory, North Carolina just before starting high school. During high school he was a competitive swimmer and found a love for running. During his free time he enjoys cooking, eating, hiking, exercising, and reading. Dr. Chris found his passion for chiropractic while working as a Paramedic.
After treating sick patients repeatedly for years and seeing their health continuously decline despite ongoing treatments, he began to notice something. When he went to the chiropractor to keep his own spine healthy, he noticed that people were actually getting better the longer they were under chiropractic care.
He then applied for chiropractic college and never looked back until he graduated with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2019. During his time in chiropractic school, he attended numerous Gonstead seminars to improve his skill and meet his ultimate goal, to give the highest quality care possible to the people of Durham, NC. He furthered his education by completing a Master’s in Nutrition and Human Performance.
Dr. Chris has taken additional courses in extremity adjusting through the International Board of Extremity Chiropractors to broaden his knowledge in caring for shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, and ankle injuries.
Chiropractor
VALENTINA DEGIOVANNI D.C.
Dr. Valentina was born in the Piedmont region of northern Italy and moved to the United States at the age of 6. She grew up in WI where she spent most of her time in competitive swimming for her local swim team from the age of 7 to 18, as well as horseback riding at a nearby farm. In her free time, Valentina loves to ride her horse, cook, hike, run, and lift weights at the gym.
Prior to attending Sherman College of Chiropractic, Dr. Valentina studied Kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, while there, she discovered the healing benefits of chiropractic from her good friend and now mentor.
While in chiropractic school, she joined the school's Gonstead club and became the club vice president for some time. Valentina furthered her knowledge of the Gonstead technique by attending different seminars outside of school as well as completing the ACES animal chiropractic program that is required to sit for the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association exam. Dr. Valentina graduated from Sherman College Magna Cum Laude.
Dr. Vale has taken additional courses in extremity adjusting through the International Board of Extremity Chiropractors to broaden her knowledge in caring for shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, and ankle injuries.
Massage Therapist
JESSICA TAYLOR
Jessica was born in Canada and moved to Mount Pleasant, North Carolina at the age of three. She grew up dancing and spent a lot of time in the saddle until she had children. She attended Appalachian State University.
She has always received chiropractic care and massage to handle back pain and worked for time previously in a chiropractic office where we also saw many animal patients. She originally planned on learning equine massage but her husband convinced her to go to school for human massage as well. She completely fell in love with her job and has never looked back. She's been a massage therapist for over 15 years and couldn't imagine doing anything else.
